After reading this collection by Kay, I feel like I have dived into her psyche and understand her story. This group of poems are a poetic memoir of her life, journey and being. It's a great collection.
When I started reading this collection I didn’t know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised. This is the first book of Kay’s that I have read and I was captivated from start to finish.
Personally, what I loved about this collection is how it flowed and how it showed various elements that have impacted the poets life, and future.
It cleverly tells the tale of an individual and their family through verse, which I found extremely powerful. The use of technical devices and form are in there but their subtle use helps the subject matter and topics of each piece shine through.
My reasoning for giving this collection five stars is due to the journey it takes the reader on - if you haven’t read this book, you need to.
