BUMBLE BEE

Solitary in its structure,
while it looks to manufacture
the complex infrastructure
of a vast corporate empire.

Floating from desk to desk
enquiring what's to be done next,
looking to fulfil its quest - 
taking gratitude in its conquest.

Quickly climbing the corporate ranks,
with handshakes and quietened thanks.
On the front line in the business tank
cautiously looking across it's flanks.

Board meetings sweetened with honey
while corporate big-wigs discuss money.
Surrounded by familiar company,
while saying "what's in it for me?"

Survival has become the bees mantra -
so it keeps looking for the next 'chapter',
as its wings begin to gently flutter
​off and away to something much better.
