Ocean Vuong puts a lot of thought and attention into creating this collection of poems.
Within this book Vuong explores a variety of forms and literary techniques within a vast array of topics covered.
Reading this group of verses I have been able to drive inspiration for works of my own, employing similar technical devices.
However, when taking a step back, and looking at the bigger picture, it was hard for me to see through the devices and into the heart of each piece, which was a shame.
I’m sure there are others out there that would enjoy this collection and immerse themselves within the deep literary devices and forms explored within each of the pages, but it was just not for me, which is why I could only give this collection three stars.
