Gill explores the impact of the pandemic and the feelings expressed by so many captivatingly within her collection, ‘Where Hope Comes From’.
The relationship between individuals thoughts, feelings, and emotions - to space and astronomy is so clever, and it adds another dimension to this collection, which was very unexpected, but extremely powerful.
Each piece is thought-provoking and evokes a powerful response drawing the reader in. What it does extremely well is it relates to each individual dependant on their experiences throughout the pandemic - there literally is something in here for absolutely anyone.
This is a beautiful collection and it encapsulates a moment in time that affected, not only one country, region, or continent - but the entire world. It is interesting the perspectives creatives takes around these events, as is seen with my collection ‘Lockdown’.
I gave this collection five stars due to the way it made me feel when reading it - this was done by the use of imagery and structure of each poem. It truly is a wonderful read and I would highly recommend this collection to anyone.
Since reading this collection I have gone to add more of Nikita’s other works to my wish and to-read lists, her tone and style has captured me with this collection and I cannot wait to see what other visually encapsulating pieces she has in store for me.
